Spring is here! As we welcome in the new season, it’s the perfect time to clean your windows.
Check out our tips below for maintaining your Omega Windows and keeping them looking their best all year round.
One of the standout features of Omega Windows & Doors is our use durable powder coating from Dulux. Our use of Duralloy +PLUS and Protexture finishes provide exceptional protection against the elements, but they requires proper care to maintain their beauty for years to come.
To protect your powder coating, avoid harsh chemicals like paint thinners, which can strip away the coating and leave your window joinery vulnerable. Instead, opt for gentle cleaners such as a diluted solution of mild, pH-neutral liquid dishwashing detergent as recommended by WGANZ.
Regular cleaning is essential to keep your windows sparkling clean and free from dirt and grime. Every three to six months, wash them down with a soft brush and mild detergent to remove airborne pollutants. If you live in a high-pollution area, you may need to increase the frequency of cleaning.
We recommend regular washing of your aluminium windows & doors. Taking extra care of your products will ensure you will meet the warranty terms associated with the surface finish.
In normal conditions, we recommend washing aluminium windows & doors every three months. If wind-blown residues are likely to settle on aluminium, for example, cement dust, sea salt near the coast, or agrichemicals – you will need to wash your windows more frequently.
Never use emery paper, sandpaper, steel wool or other highly abrasive materials on any aluminium, acid or alkaline cleaners, or chemical cleaners, as they can damage the anodised and powder-coated finish.
Some commercial house cleaning products can damage aluminium and the finish. If a commercial house cleaner doesn’t provide you with a written assurance that their cleaning products are safe for aluminium, it’s best to stay away from them.
When painting near your aluminium windows or doors, cover and protect them with a drop sheet. If the paint is accidentally applied onto the window or door, act quickly and remove paint splashes with a soft cloth soaked in water.
Not all sunscreens damage the powder-coated surface of joinery. However, varieties containing titanium dioxide (a UV-absorbing compound) can leave permanent marks on a powder-coated surface.
If you have recently applied sunscreen, please avoid touching joinery, or use gloves when touching or handling joinery. If sunscreen gets on the powder-coated surface, wash off immediately with warm, soapy water.
